Woman of the Year Reception and Dinner Gala

WCEE is pleased to recognize Sue Kelly, president and CEO of American Public Power Association as the 2017 Woman of the Year and Dr. Robert Marlay, director, Office of International Science & Technology Collaboration, US Department of Energy, as the 2017 Champion. The Woman of the Year Reception and Dinner Gala in honor of these awardees will be held on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the Capital Hilton Hotel.

Interview with Sue Kelly

Ms. Kelly has been president and CEO of the APPA since April 2014. She is the first woman to hold the position in the association’s 76-year history. Prior to becoming president and CEO, Ms. Kelly was APPA’s senior vice president, policy analysis and general counsel. In that capacity, she helped APPA and its members in energy policy formulation and policy advocacy before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), federal courts, and other governmental and industry policy forums.

Dr. Robert Marlay - 2017 WCEE Champion

Dr. Robert Marlay is a career member of the US Government's Senior Executive Service. At the US Department of Energy, he is currently director, Office of International Science & Technology Collaboration. He is also the US director of the US-China Clean Energy Research Center, a bilateral initiative to encourage research and development collaboration and accelerate advanced technology development and deployment in both countries; and represents the United States in a number of international fora in the fields of energy, science, and climate change. He is also an Ambassador to the U.S. Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Initiative for Women in Clean Energy, and has championed its growth since its inception in 2011.
