WCEE Events Media Policy

(IMPORTANT: WCEE event-planners are required to read this text to the audience before the event begins.)

WCEE events are primarily for the professional development of the organization's own members. Press personnel who attend WCEE events are required to pay attendance fees based on their membership status within WCEE. Press personnel with WCEE memberships are required to pay the applicable member attendance fee. Press personnel who are non-members are required to pay the applicable non-member attendance fee.

To foster an environment of candid discussion, WCEE events are considered to be "on background". Any exceptions to this default status will be announced at the beginning of the event. WCEE event attendees must obtain the speakers' permission before quoting them on any media platform.

The "on background" status of WCEE events extends to reporting or broadcasting via social media. Therefore, WCEE event attendees cannot quote WCEE speakers and/or their presentations using social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or other similar tools during or after the event, unless it has been announced that the presenter is "on the record" for everyone at the event.

Electronic recording of the event is not allowed, again, without the speaker's approval.

Members of the press who wish to schedule interviews with WCEE speakers or seek permission to quote speakers for a publication may make such arrangements after the conclusion of the WCEE event.
