Pari Kasotia is the Deputy Director at The Solar Foundation (TSF) and is responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight. She has worn multiple hats that range from leading organizations to being an entrepreneur to providing academic leadership. Her passion for clean energy and the environment led her to launch a non-profit organization called Unfolding Energy in 2015. Similarly, recognizing a lack of a course focused solely on energy policy, she introduced, designed, and taught an upper-level undergraduate course on National Energy Policy at Drake University in 2014.  In 2015, she was named Midwest Energy News’s 40 under 40 Emerging Clean Energy Leaders.

In addition to her business acumen, she has strong expertise in clean energy markets, energy policy, and sustainability. Prior to her role at TSF, Pari led the Iowa Energy Office at the State of Iowa and managed multi-million dollar federal and state energy projects to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy in Iowa communities. Her professional experience also includes working at a public policy consulting firm and an international relations focused non-profit organization.

Pari currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Solar Household Energy Inc. (SHE), a non-profit that works to promote solar cookers around the world and is a Vice-Chair of the Renewable Energy Subcommittee of the US Energy Bar Association (EBA). Additionally, she is a Board member of the Women’s Council for Energy and Environment (WCEE), and a member of the United Nations Association (UNA). In the past, she served as the member of the Iowa Energy Center’s Advisory Council.

She has made numerous presentations on topics related to energy, environment, gender, and sustainable communities for various organizations, including her recent presentation at the United Nations High Level Sustainable Development Goals Action Event at the UN Headquarters in New York. Her other speaking engagements include presentations for Intersolar (solar trade show and conference), United Nations Association (UNA), National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), National Governors Association (NGA), Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), and other organizations.

She is a published author with her work appearing in UN Chronicle and frequently writes on energy topics for Triple Pundit. She holds two Master’s degrees; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Drake University and a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) in Economic Development and Policy Analysis from Indiana University-Bloomington. She has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Drake University in Environmental Policy and Political Science and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) as well as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). She has lived in countries of India, Cote d’Ivoire, and Tunisia in addition to the US.
