WCEE Fundamentals & Emerging Issues Brown Bag Lunch
Gas and Electricity Markets Coordination
National Petroleum Council
Thursday, July 23, 2026
12:00 noon - 1:00 pm (ET)
Join WCEE for a timely discussion on the growing interdependence between the electric power and natural gas sectors—and why improved coordination between the two is increasingly critical to energy reliability, affordability, and resilience.
This session will be led by Christi Tezak, Senior Director at ClearView Energy Partners, and Dr. Margo Regier, Program Manager at the National Petroleum Council. Together, they will share insights from the recently released National Petroleum Council report, Reliable Energy: Delivering on the Promise of Gas-Electric Coordination.
The report examines the operational, market, and regulatory challenges arising from the growing reliance of the electric sector on natural gas infrastructure, particularly during periods of system stress and extreme weather. Christi and Margo will discuss key findings and recommendations from the study, including opportunities to better align gas and electricity markets, improve reliability outcomes, and support long-term infrastructure planning.
Whether your interests lie in electricity markets, natural gas, grid reliability, regulation, or energy policy, this brown bag lunch will provide valuable perspectives on one of the most important emerging issues facing today's energy system. The discussion will be particularly relevant for professionals interested in resource adequacy, reliability, market design, infrastructure planning, and the evolving challenges of the energy transition.
Bring your lunch and your questions for what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking conversation.

About the Fundamentals & Emerging Issues Series:
In recognition of the legacy and responsibilities of WCEE at this historic moment for energy and environmental interests, the WCEE Board of Directors developed a strategic plan for 2026 that reflects its role as a nonpartisan organization elevating thought leadership and sharing critical insights for our partner sponsors and individual members alike during this transformational period.
One element of the strategic plan is raising baseline knowledge on relevant and timely energy and environmental matters and explaining in plain language how and why these matters are relevant from the perspectives of various stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as FERC and state legislatures, non-profit environmental compliance organizations, private sector energy and digital infrastructure enterprises, and more.
To do this, WCEE is launching “Fundamentals and Emerging Issues,” a new series that provides an overview of energy and environmental topics while exploring emerging issues. This value-focused series is created for impact, providing accessible know-how for newer members to our sector to improve their understanding while also delving into the complexities that are relevant to more experienced executives navigating decisions on these matters in real time.
We look forward to seeing you on July 23rd.
Thank you for your support!
