WCEE Fundamentals & Emerging Issues Brown Bag Lunch
Latest Developments in Transmission Policy
Thursday, September 17, 2026
12:00 noon - 1:00 pm (ET)
Charles River Associates / Virtual Event
Hybrid
Join WCEE for a brown-bag to discuss the latest developments in transmission policy. From matters pending at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, a draft Department of Energy study, to an ever-growing list of bills in Congress, policymakers across the country are advancing competing ideas for planning, permitting, and paying for regional and interregional transmission. Which proposals are likely to gain traction—and which could meaningfully accelerate the transmission investment needed to meet growing electricity demand?
Leading the discussion will be Christina Hayes, recent Executive Director at Americans for a Clean Energy Grid. A link to Christiana's bio is available here. Drawing on firsthand experience at the intersection of law, regulation, and advocacy, Christina will separate headlines from lasting trends and highlight the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Whether you're tracking transmission planning and cost allocation, permitting and siting, grid-enhancing technologies, or the changing roles of federal and state policymakers, you'll leave with a clearer understanding of where transmission policy stands today—and where it may be headed next. Please bring your lunch and your questions.

About the Fundamentals & Emerging Issues Series:
In recognition of the legacy and responsibilities of WCEE at this historic moment for energy and environmental interests, the WCEE Board of Directors developed a strategic plan for 2026 that reflects its role as a nonpartisan organization elevating thought leadership and sharing critical insights for our partner sponsors and individual members alike during this transformational period.
One element of the strategic plan is raising baseline knowledge on relevant and timely energy and environmental matters and explaining in plain language how and why these matters are relevant from the perspectives of various stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as FERC and state legislatures, non-profit environmental compliance organizations, private sector energy and digital infrastructure enterprises, and more.
To do this, WCEE is launching “Fundamentals and Emerging Issues,” a new series that provides an overview of energy and environmental topics while exploring emerging issues. This value-focused series is created for impact, providing accessible know-how for newer members to our sector to improve their understanding while also delving into the complexities that are relevant to more experienced executives navigating decisions on these matters in real time.
We look forward to seeing you on September 17th.
Thank you for your support!
