WCEE’s Lunch & Learn Series presents

Autonomous Vehicles: The Future is Now

Just a few years ago, the notion of autonomous vehicles (AV) was still more science fiction than fact. Today, it seems the news is littered with announcements of major automakers teaming up with tech firms to pursue and push the boundaries of self-driving innovation. As advances continue to be made on the technology front, discussions surrounding the implications of AV on urban planning and infrastructure development, safety and traffic, the environment, and vehicle ownership are coming to the forefront. As Congress continues to debate legislation that would most effectively and safely remove regulatory roadblocks in AV development, the road ahead for AVs is only becoming more exciting.

Join WCEE to hear from Ellen Partridge, Senior Law Fellow at the Environmental Law and Policy Center; Kelley Coyner, Senior Fellow at the Center for Regional Analysis and Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University; and Fred Wagner, partner at Venable, as they share with us their knowledge of AV’s and the impacts AV’s will have on the natural and human environment, energy consumption, and the transportation landscape generally.
